SASA - South Asian Student Association
The South Asian Student Association (SASA) at Lund University is the student body of Swedish South Asian Studies Network (SASNET). It was formed in early 2013 in collaboration with the Social Sciences students Union to promote students interest for South Asia and provide a platform for educational and cultural exchange between South Asian students in Lund and other international students. SASA was officially launched on 24 April 2013 at a high level South Asia Symposium organised by SASNET.
What SASA does for students at Lund University:
– Wide range of student activities including:
Seminars and workshops
Documentary screenings and movie nights
Cultural events (for example Diwali celebrations and music performances)
Other social events
– Financial support
Since the academic year 2014-2015 SASA has been awarding travel grants to students undertaking fieldwork in South Asian countries.
– Assisting students
…with all kinds of academic issues related to South Asia , such as project planning and information about funding possibilities and contacts at universities, research institutions, and NGO’s in all South Asian countries.
– Facilitating contacts
…with other Nordic and European students and researchers with similar interests in South Asia.
